That's me; a beginner. This book is very helpful and gives me great ideas about how to shoot with my camera. I know nothing about dslr's. I have yet to view the video content. will update review once i have watched.

I'm actually reading this great "How To" book from cover to cover. I've already learned many great tips that I didn't know before. If I could only have one book on this great camera, this would be the one.

First off, it is a beautiful-looking book. It just wasn't very helpful to me and, I suspect, it would not be very informative for many 5d purchasers. The book reads, content-wise, like a primer for someone new to DSLRs. Given the cost of the 5d, it is not likely to be many people's first camera. There are better primers on the general topics of composition and exposure, as well as better books on the specific functions/benefits of the 5d mkiii compared to other DSLRs. So, ultimately I cannot recommend the book.

I find the user guides that come with cameras are almost useless and this book more than fills the void.

Great book, but I found the one for the T4i to be even better. Both are very good though.

I bought this after buying the camera. It's proving a useful guide and helps clarify things I did not fully understand

The manual is very comprehensive but like most manuals is not easy to digest when wanting to get out and take good photos, this book allows you to do this.

1.0 out of 5 stars livre vraiment bof
Reviewed in France on November 10, 2012
Dommage, j'y ai cru, dans ce livre from "Snapshots to great shots".

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very 5D Mark III specific.
Reviewed in Canada on October 24, 2012
I have previously used the Snapshots to Great Shots book on the Canon T1i and found it to be very usefull. It explained many of the capabilities of the camera and gave suggestions as to how to use them to take better shots.

I was disappointed by the Canon 5D Mark III: From Snapshots to Great Shots as it could have been written about any camera. It explained how to take better photographs in general, but it didn't explain how to use the advanced features of the 5D3 to best advantage. There was virtually nothing about how to customize the camera and how to use the advanced autofocus system to best advantage.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dissappointing

Having been bowled over by the enormous wealth of knowledge delivered in 7D from Snapshots to Great Shots, I had similar expectations for this book as well. Im afraid that this fell a long way short of expectations. The author is obviously a very accomplished photographer but not a great communicator. Sorry to say that this just did not do it for me.
